NLR Nepal has been at the forefront of leprosy control, disability inclusion, and public health innovation for over four decades. Working in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population and in collaboration with relevant ministries, departments, and international networks such as the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations (ILEP), NLR Nepal has made significant contributions to national and global efforts.
Major Achievements
Reduced leprosy burden and transmission in supported areas, with a marked decline in child cases and disability due to leprosy.
Integrated leprosy-related disability into the broader national disability agenda, ensuring inclusion within mainstream services.
Established digital, case-based surveillance systems and monitoring tools that have strengthened data-driven decision-making.
Pioneered innovative approaches such as Leprosy Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (LPEP), Our Village Model Village (OVMV), disability-inclusive development models, and the introduction of Outcome Mapping (OM) as a planning, monitoring, and evaluation tool.
